President Ilir Meta stressed the importance of counting every single vote cast in Sunday elections in a statement following the closing of all vote centers throughout Albania.

He put the responsibility for the successful closing of the whole process on the elections administration who are administering ballot boxes and counting the votes.

“All citizens should relax now, after this wonderful election. The responsibility now lies with commissioners and counting teams. No one should dare to harm this great electoral process for any small benefit. No vote should be alienated,” the president said.

Meta added that exit polls are not reliable and are conducted to benefit certain parties.

“Albania has won and EU accession talks are to start soon,” he concluded.
