US Ambassador Yuri Kim visited a polling station in Tirana, Albania, about 5 hours after the closing of the voting process and while counting teas are preparing to start their work.
The diplomat was accompanied by the head of CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi.
“We will closely follow the process. Albanian voters have done their job. The responsibility now lies with the counting teams to do their job with integrity. And I believe they will do so,” Kim stated.
Celibashi stressed the need for the losing party to accept the election result.
“This shows the interest of the US. Our friends know the relevance of elections for democracy and [EU] integration. The result should be accepted by the loser, whoever it is,” Celibashi said, thanking the ambassador for the US support in these elections.
The vote counting in this center has not started yet, Euronews Albania journalist Ardit Hoxha reported.
