Although the official results of the polls have not been announced yet, several foreign leaders have reached out to Prime Minister Edi Rama to congratulate him on the Socialists’ victory, as preliminary data shows that he is on the track to seal a third term.
Euronews Albania journalist learned that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis congratulated PM Rama over the phone on the Socialist Party’s landslide win.
A complimentary message also arrived from across the Adriatic, namely from Italian Foreign Affairs Minister Luigi Di Maio and the leader of the opposition Matteo Salvini.
North Macedonia’s premier Zoran Zaev also extended his wishes for the Socialist Party’s triumph and to PM Edi Rama for winning the elections.
