The Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime, widely known as SPAK, announced today that it is pursuing criminal proceedings on cases related to electoral offenses such as “active/passive corruption at the elections”.
Currently, there are 33 ongoing criminal proceedings:
- 27 criminal proceedings for “Active corruption in elections”, as stipulated by Article 328 on the Criminal Code
- 2 criminal proceedings for “Active corruption in elections” and “Passive corruption in elections”, as stipulated by Article 328 and 328/b on the Criminal Code.
- 2 criminal proceedings for “Using the public function for public or electoral activities”, as stipulated by Article 328/a on the Criminal Code.
- 1 criminal proceeding for “Abuse of office” and “Active corruption in elections”, as stipulated by Article 248 and 328 on the Criminal Code.
- 1 criminal proceeding for “Active corruption in elections” and “Spreading personal secrets”, as stipulated by Article 328 and 122 of the Criminal Code.
The US Ambassador commended SPAK for probing into electoral offenses, adding that “no one is above the law”.
