Analyst Andi Bushati said on tonight’s “Shock” that Lulzim Basha must definitely step down after losing the parliamentary elections.
“Undoubtedly, Basha needs to resign”, said Bushati. “He bears the responsibility of promising to the majority of Albanians that are against Rama that he would save them in these elections”.
Bushati insisted that although Basha may not be entirely to blame for the loss, the former must step down, or else he would go against his earlier decisions.
“You just can’t leave parliament saying that Edi Rama can’t be defeated by vote and then after 2 years claim that Rama can be defeated by the vote. To me, Basha is like an innocent guard who did not safeguard the warehouse, but even if you’re not guilty as you’ve been stolen because you weren’t able to safeguard it, you need to go home”, said Bushati.
On the other hand, Baton Haxhiu said that the one that really needs to resign within the ranks of the Democratic Party is not Basha, but Sali Berisha.
“The first resignation that must take place at the DP is that of Sali Berisha”, said Haxhiu.
The two analysts shared a similar opinion over Basha’s speech today saying that Basha should have maintained a stance.
“Basha’s speech was ridiculous. No leader in any normal country would come out after the elections without maintaining a stance. What would the stance be? I recognize or not these elections. Will I be a member of the future parliament, or not”, said Andi Bushati.
“Lulzim Basha’s declaration was a bit problematic. Firstly, a leader needs to take up a stance, for himself. He said that the elections were democratic by late Sunday, he cannot dare to change his stance only when he learns of his defeat”, said Baton Haxhiu.
