Prime Minister Edi Rama continues to be the most preferred leader by Albanian citizens, although a majority maintain a negative opinion about him.
At the beginning of Rama’s third mandate, around 43% of Albanians thought positively of him, while 55% negatively.
These were the findings of Barometer on Euronews Albania which measured the likeability of the country’s six main leaders, namely Edi Rama, Erion Veliaj, Lulzim Basha, Sali Berisha, Ilir Meta, and Monika Kryemadhi.
Edi Rama’s likeability has been stable since this January when Barometer began researching who were the most preferred politicians in the country.
After Rama, the most popular politician is Tirana’s mayor, Erion Veliaj, with 39% of Albanians sharing a positive opinion, as opposed to 58% negative.

Barometer discovered that in general, Albanians tend to see opposition leaders through a negative lens.
The most preferred figure among the opposition leaders is former PM Sali Berisha (28%), followed by DP leader Lulzim Basha (19.6%), President Ilir Meta (7.2%), and the chair of the Socialist Movement for Integration Monika Kryemadhi.
The nationwide survey was conducted by Euronews Albania, MRB, and Data Centrum from October 20-29, 2021.
