A week before the first 400 migrants arrive in Shengjin and Gjadër after the agreement signed between Albania and Italy, Prime Minister Rama gave an interview to the Italian media “La Repubblica”.
The head of the government says that the construction and management of the migrant centers in both the erected structures have nothing to do with the Albanian government. Also, he says that no migrant will be able to leave these structures.
“The agreement stipulates that migrants cannot leave the camp and travel freely to Albania. If this were to happen, an agreed action plan would be set in motion, our security and justice institutions and agencies have worked closely together for years to fight organized crime. I will worry if and when there is reason to worry, and only if Italy asks us to share the worry. Until then, I am not worried”, says Rama.
But can such an agreement between Albania and another country be repeated? To this, Rama responds like this.
“It may be repetitive, but first I would have to understand who the other de facto couple in Europe is, consisting of an EU member state and a European state that is not yet a member of the EU: at the moment it is difficult for me to see it”, says the head of the government.
Regarding the delays in the opening of the two centers, Rama says that this may have happened as a result of geological problems.
