Prime minister Edi Rama has commented from Hungary where he is attending the European political community summit, on the election of Donald Trump as president of the United state. Rama hopes the election of Trump, will be good news for Europe.
President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani also attending the summit in Budapest, commented on trumps election. She said that with Trump in the White House, cooperation with Kosovo will be strengthened. “We do not see it as a threat, Kosovo has benefited for decades from the bipartisan support of the USA”, said Osmani.
The candidate for the next EU Enlargement Commissioner, Slovenia’s Marta Kos, said that she wants Albania to join the EU by 2027. At a hearing in the European Parliament, where she faced questions from MEPs, Kos said that “After ten years, there is a real opportunity to bring in the EU, Montenegro and Albania”.
The saga of the ship with suspected toxic waste in the Port of Durrës continues. 10 days after the ship with 2100 tons of waste returned to Albanian waters after being rejected by Thailand, authorities have given permission to anchor in the port of Durrës. However, it is still to be analysed as the port reports they have still not found anywhere to store the waste.
Albanias COMPETITION AUTHORITY has launched an an investigation into fruit and vegetable markets in some main cities of the country. It is suspected that companies running the wholesale markets have falsely inflated prices of the products.
