Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, COP29, in Baku, Azerbaijan. The Albanian Prime Minister said that every year after such conferences, pollution from heavy industries does not decrease, but only increases. “What the hell are we doing in these meetings one after the other, if there is no common political will on the horizon to go beyond words and unite for meaningful actions”, he said.
The President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella has reacted after the statement from Elon Musk that the judges who overturned the agreement for immigrants with Albania, must go. He said Italy is a great democratic country, and its sovereignty must be respected.
The head of the National Information Service, Vlora Hyseni, declared in the parliamentary commission against disinformation, that unfriendly states and this working against democratic values finance portals in Albania. She added they also recruit people to spread fake news, adding that Albania should adopt stricter laws against disinformation.
Business representatives have asked the government to change the 2025 law on taxes. In a letter from 8 business associations they said the government should stop allowing purchases in the euros in the country, insisting on Lek instead, and reduce Value Added Tax. According to them, businesses are facing difficulties due to taxes and the increase in the price of raw materials.
