Syria has become the 120th country to recognize the independence of Kosovo, President Vjosa Osmani has announced.
“With the support of His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, today in Riyadh we reached an agreement through which the Syrian Arab Republic recognizes the Republic of Kosovo,” Osmani wrote on Facebook.
President Osmani expressed her gratitude to President Al Sharaa for the decision to recognize Kosovo and for his support toward the people of Kosovo. She also thanked the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia for making this historic act between the two states possible.
“The people of Kosovo and those of Syria have suffered and sacrificed greatly to achieve freedom. This mutual recognition today is not only an acknowledgment of state sovereignty, but also of the sacrifices made by generations to live free. Kosovo is now recognized by 120 countries. Our Republic is moving forward, and nothing can stop it,” Osmani stated.
