A terrorist attack in Greece is prevented, 2 suspects are arrested

Two people accused of planning assassinations against a Jewish restaurant in the center of Athens have been arrested. Police in the Greek capital also believe those arrested may have planned attacks on other civilian targets, which could have caused many casualties. The pair has been arrested on charges related to terrorism.

A third suspect who was not in Greece is wanted. It was the Israeli spy agency, Mossad, that helped the Greek side in the investigations and that declared that the arrested were part of an Iranian terrorist network. While the Greek authorities have specified that the suspects had chosen a target of symbolic importance and were making the final preparations for the attack. “Their intention was not only to kill innocents, but also to undermine the sense of security in the country and to damage Greece’s international relations,” said a statement.
