Albania has turned into a transit country for illegal immigrants who aim for the EU.

A group of six Afghani citizens was detained in Pogradec, as they were entering Albania illegally and now they will have to go back.

A woman, part of the group, tells about their journey ordeal as they try to find a better life in an EU country.

“We are from Afghanistan. We came from Greece. We are doing this for a better life. I am young, I want to go to school. I do not want food or money. I just want to go to school. You cannot understand me. It is very hard. The police have stopped us, but we are not terrorists. My mother is in Tirana and I am here with my father”, she said.

The persons who had promised them to cross them outside Albania were arrested, and now their dream was shattered.

“We have traveled for eight days. We would go from Tirana to Shkoder, then to another country”, they add.

More than 1000 refugees have been stopped by the police and Frontex forces during this year, while 50 people have been arresting for helping them cross the border.
