COVID-19 in Albania: Record high number of new cases registered

During its daily briefing, the Ministry of Health reported 5 fatalities and 182 new confirmed coronavirus cases.  

Albania counts 15.572 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic and 429 deaths.  

Healthcare authorities confirmed that 1.055 suspected citizens were tested, of which 182 were diagnosed positive.

This is the highest single daily increase every recorded in the country since the outbreak of the virus on March 9.

The majority of the new infections were reported in Tirana, as 61 citizens were confirmed to have contracted the virus.

There are currently 244 hospitalizations at the two COVID dedicated hospitals in Tirana, of which 13 in intensive therapy.

So far, 9.675 Albanians have defeated the virus but the country still has an estimated 5.648 active cases.
