During a statement for the press, the leader of SMI, Monika Kryemadhi stated that these elections were won by the oligarchs and the gangs.

“At first, I want to wish the victory of the oligarchs and the gangs, because they are the true winners of these elections, they are the first we need to send wishes to. Secondly, I congratulate president Vucic for the correct polls he gave for the elections in Albania,” stated Kryemadhi.

“I want to thank 107 thousand valid voters that gave their vote to SMI and I want to thank another 81 thousand invalid voters, 70% of whom were voters of SMI,” added Kryemadhi.

“We miscalculated our strategy, starting with giving up on our mandates, not taking part in the local elections and consciously or non-consciously we handed over the power to Rama and the oligarchs,” she added.

The leader of SMI asked forgiveness from president Ilir Meta, in her name and the name of the party, referring to the concern of the head of state regarding the giving up of mandates by the opposition.

She stressed out the fact that she is disappointed but she continued by emphasizing that SMI would rise back up.

“My disappointment has been great, but there’s one thing I am very certain and clearheaded about; this system is a travesty. SMI with 107 thousand votes got 4 mandates and another political force that no one is sure what it really is, with 35 thousand votes, got 3 mandates,” said Kyremadhi.
