Prosecutor General Olsian Çela declared that he has demanded a prompt investigation into the alleged electoral offenses.

In a statement to the press from Durres, Çela stressed that the matter has an impact on the entire country and called on prosecutors to probe into every suspicious case.

He also said to have offered support to regional prosecution offices to carry out thorough investigations.

“It is important that the investigations are complete, and are conducted at the right time in order to transmit the results to the general public”, said Albania’s Prosecutor General.

The Democratic Party has challenged the results of the election arguing that the Socialist majority has committed “an electoral massacre” as well as “altering the will of the people”.

Accordingly, the Democrats, and the Socialist Movement for Integration, have called to repeat the polls in several counties.
