Since April 26th, NATO’s troops have started the largest military exercise called ‘Defender 21’. A part of this exercise will be conducted in several Albanian territories. Today, a large number of American soldiers have arrived in our country, which was announced by the US ambassador to Albania, Yuri Kim.

During the reception of the US troops in the airport of Rinas, the US ambassador declared that our country will be receiving a total of 6 000 troops while emphasizing that the US has assigned 35 million US dollars to Albania during this exercise.

“USA has spent 35 million dollars in Albania, by employing Albanian citizens, from drivers to construction workers to cooks, everyone. So, this is a big deal and we are looking forward to seeing the continuation in the next couple of weeks,” declared the ambassador.

Albania was selected amongst other countries, because of its strategic location and the fact that it has been a valuable partner to the US for years now. This military exercise will be conducted in the Balkans as well as the Black Sea.

Albania is one of 16 other countries, where the multi-national military drill ‘Defender 21’ will be taking place. Soldiers arriving from 26 different countries, under the instructions of US troops, will be conducting their operations in the port of Durres, Air base of Kucova, Berat, Zall-Herr, Bize, Pashaliman and the air base of Farka.
