Albanian prime minister Edi Rama attended the inauguration ceremony of a new border point that will connect the country with Montenegro.
Referring to the new border point “great news” for those traveling to and from Montenegro, Rama added that it will have European standards while thanking Montenegrin authorities for the collaboration.
According to him, a dignifying infrastructure is not sufficient if not all travel obstacles are lifted, echoing a policy that has been endorsed at the Open Balkan initiative which aims to facilitate the travel of citizens by removing tariffs and offer a fast crossing without the need for identification at the border checks.
Rama said that along with deputy premier Dritan Abazovic they have committed to building a new bridge connecting Velipoja with Montenegro.
He also added that “bureaucratic barriers” can be demolished after the construction of the bridge.
