The Constitutional Court unveiled its complete judgment on the local elections held on 30 June 2019, deeming them legitimate.
Five judges dismissed the request to proclaim the local polls as illegitimate, with one of them presenting a different argument.
Judge Sonila Bejtja said that events leading to the polls, such as the opposition’s walkout from Parliament, fall under “constitutional disagreements”.
Under these conditions, the electoral process “constitutes to a denied right to vote” and “undermines constitutional rights to equal, free and secretive voting”, as there was only one candidate racing in the respective 31 municipalities.
