In 2022, car enthusiasts may switch their regular plates for personalized ones, by being able to combine words and numbers for up to 7 digits.

However, this does not come without any restrictions to avoid abuses. For example, swear words and particular signs will be prohibited. Another facility is that the plates may be transferable from one vehicle to another, that is for the same owner.

All this will come at an extra cost.

Vanity places may also include numbers only, while the ones with fewer characters, for example, a single number or one letter, will be pricier.

The most special ones picked by the Road Authority will go into an online action.

In addition, smaller and larger plates, depending on the size of the vehicle, will also be available starting next year.

The changes were adopted by the Albanian government on Wednesday, while additional costs on the personalized plates will be determined soon.
