The first plenary session for the new season will be held on January 17, at 17:00.

Sources near Euronews Albania have said that the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan will be invited to be a guest speaker and come to Tirana on an official visit.

In recent weeks, there has been a series of new developments that have involved the Democratic Party that may carry on during the upcoming plenary sessions as well.

On Saturday, the Democratic Party headquarters was attacked by supporters of Sali Berisha, who answered his call for a peaceful protest in the name of taking back DP and forcing Basha to resign as party leader.

Protestors tried to open the main doors, which had been heavily armored, following Basha’s orders but were mostly unsuccessful, until the protest was ultimately dispersed by the police.

The former PM Sali Berisha has made many accusations against Basha, calling his attempts to turn the party into a bunker and hold his office by force, ‘absurd’.

Earlier today, DP’s leadership group announced that they had permanently expelled Sali Berisha from the Democratic Party, along with 7 of his supporters.

Meanwhile, several other DP members have been suspended.

Berisha and his Refoundation Group have warned mass protests that won’t stop until Basha steps down.
