Germany is urging for Albania’s quick integration in the European Union. This is the message conveyed by the country’s minister for Europe and Climate, Anna Luhrman in an official visit to Tirana.

But is Berlin in favor of decoupling Tirana and Skopje?

“We received very positive signals from Bulgaria in this context and we will continue to be engaged so that we can find the most appropriate solution in the closest possible moment”, said Luhrman.

Deputy prime minister Arben Ahmetaj said that Albania is looking forward to holding the first Intergovernmental Conference in the upcoming 6 months.

“Today as we speak, there are no EU member countries raising problems against Albania”, Ahmetaj said.

Luhrman said that the Berlin process remains a priority of the German government.

“We welcome the commitment for regional cooperation between the heads of states and governments of the Western Balkans and we understand very well their desire to push forward in this process. Here it is clear that the road must follow the course of cooperation of the 6 countries and that the process must continue to be comprehensive and open to all,” said the German minister.
