Special local elections in our country will cost upwards of €1.4 billion euros.

The news was announced during a press conference dedicated to the elections set to take place on March 6, by the Electoral Commissioner, Ilirjan Celibashi.

In addition, he also declared that electronic identity verification systems will be deployed in all ballot stations, whereas in Vore citizens will also have the chance to vote electronically.

“We’ve already experienced this in Tirana. The goal is to apply electronic voting systems during the elections for the municipality of Vore, but this will be discussed with each political party also,” – he said.

These by-elections will be taking place in the following municipalities, which are currently without a designated mayor: Shkoder, Vore, Durres, Diber, Rrogozhine and Lushnje.
