The Democratic Party’s caucus leader, Enkelejd Alibeaj, declared that if the ruling majority overturns the opposition’s proposal for president, this would lead to the end of their joint agreement.
Alibeaj gave this statement during a press communication outside DP’s headquarters.
In addition, he said that the opposition has entered this process and taken it very seriously.
“If on Monday, the majority in power overturns the candidature for president presented by the opposition in Parliament, this would lead to the end of our agreement. This is very clear. We’ve entered this process and take it very seriously, despite the skepticism that surrounds us. Step by step, after reading our document, one can clearly understand how serious we are about this and how great is our service to the Albania public,” – said Alibeaj.
On Friday evening, there will be a meeting of DP’s caucus and its allies, with the aim of discussing the process of electing the country’s new president, which will include agreeing on proposing a possible candidature.
