A delegation of seven MEPs is set to visit Tirana from May 23 to 26, to express their support for advancing the EU enlargement process.
The members of the Commission for Foreign Affairs will review the progress Albania has done so far and the need for further reforms.
According to a press release on European Parliament’s website, MEPs are expected to reaffirm Albania’s intent to launch accession talks.
During their visit, the MEPs will also deal with the issues highlighted on Albania’s report, after it was adopted in the EP on May 19.
The report asserts that Albania has fulfilled the necessary conditions to launch accession negotiations.
The delegation will be headed by David McAllister and will meet with Albanian political leaders, opposition representatives, and members of civil society.
