Sali Berisha returned as leader of the Democratic Party with 40 820 votes in his favor.

Many Democratic MPs respect this return but there are also others who weren’t pleased about this and have gone as far as calling it a dark day for Democrats.

Grida Duma put an emphasis on respecting the free will of Democrats as well as the great burden Berisha carries in terms of where the country’s opposition currently stands.

“His influence on Democrats is apparently greater than others. Whether that is something we agree with or not, it’s beyond the point. The free will of Democrats should be recognized and that’s a fact,” – said MP Duma.

This sentiment wasn’t shared by a number of other Democratic MPs who argued that today, the Democratic Party isn’t more united.

“I have never refused the idea that Berisha has his followers but today, DP isn’t united. This is bad news for Democrats,” – said MP Dhurata Cupi.

According to another MP Oriola Pampuri, partial processes can not have a finale that is accepted by all.

During the elections that took place this Sunday, Berisha received the support of 93% of Democrats who voted between him and the other candidate, former DP district leader Ibsen Elezi.
