The American Chamber of Commerce is against an initiative on fiscal amnesty as it believes it triggers money laundering and fiscal evasion.
“It creates a fertile ground for money laundering and fiscal evasion”, said the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Albania, Enio Jaco.
Jaci also emphasized that the move, if adopted, undermines market competition.
“It distorts competition among businesses who regularly pay their taxes and those who hide their revenue”, said Jaco.
The American Chamber of Commerce in Albania called on the government to reflect on its battle against corruption and the full reformation of the procurement system.
“There should be Open Data for businesses who win public procurements, and their connections with state officials. Perhaps it seems a bit too radical, but we have to consider the current state of things”, he added.
The Business Climate Index published annually by AmCham noted a deteriorating situation for the past three years.
Businesses called on the executive to refrain from altering fiscal laws on a regular basis, referring to the new initiative on the Income Tax law.
