Albanian police arrested Edevaldo Haxhiu after he helped shelter the founder of the Turkish cryptocurrency Thodex, Faruk Fatih Ozer.
Sources confirm that the State Police arrested Ozer in Tirana two days ago.
Haxhiu is suspected to have helped the Turkish fugitive find shelter in Albania.
An international warrant was out for Ozer, issued by Turkish authorities, for a $2 million fraud case.
Police announced on Thursday that the investigations conducted for the operation named “Traces”, pointed that the 36-year-old provided transport and shelter to the Turkish man so that he could flee authorities.
Haxhiu was indicted for “Aiding and abetting the perpetrator” and “computer fraud”, while an investigation is still ongoing.
