After a lengthy session, the Commission of Appeals and Sanctions (CAS) has overruled the request deposited from the Democratic Party, Socialist Movement for Integration, and an independent candidate challenging the results of the polls in Gjirokastra.
CAS dropped their request by a majority of votes.
In regards to allegations from SMI that some of the election commissioners were public administration workers, CAS has called on the Central Election Commission to put to their disposal their names and verify whether the claims are true.
DP’s request was also dropped, while their request to scrutinize data linking electronic voter ID to the number of ballots was forwarded to CEC, in order to provide further information over the device.
The next session is expected to take place on May 14 over claims on the county of Berat.
In total, there are 18 complaints filed to CAS by political subjects, of which 9 from the DP, 5 from the SMI, 2 from the coalition ABEOK, and three independent candidates namely Iljaz Shehu, Boiken Abazi, and Kreshnik Merxhani.
