The head of the Central Elections Commission, Ilirjan Celibashi stated that there have been issues with some ballot-counting teams in some districts.
In a statement on Monday, he said the counting teams’ work is difficult and they are under pressure. He added that in most cases the issues were created by the political interference of candidates.
Celibashi refuted a statement by Democratic Party leader Lulzim Basha, who claimed that the opening of ballot boxes was done preferentially in the SP strongholds so as to create an impression of victory for the ruling party.
The top election official said they had checked the opposition concern and reached to the conclusion that the claim is categorically not true, boxes were not open in a preferential way and they were open according to legal requirements.
