The State Election Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi said that the overall eligible voter turnout at the Sunday polls was 46,32%.

“The figures I will be presenting are based on records from the commissions of voting centers after polls closed and according to them the turnout was at 46,32%, of which 47,66% are women and 5,34% are men”, said Celibashi.

He guaranteed candidates that no ballot “will be altered” as CEC has all the means to verify these claims.

“I take advantage of the occasion to reiterate that we will not allow any ballot to altered from one candidate to another. CEC possesses all CCTV footage from the first phase. I hereby invite all candidates to remain calm as we have all the means to verify the number of votes cast for each of them. There have been efforts to do that in ballots where only the party had been marked down and we asked that they not be submitted to recounting”, explained Celibashi.

Responding to comments made by the Democratic Party and the Socialist Movement for Integration to get a hold of CCTV footage from ballot counting stations, Celibashi said that CEC has launched an assessment process.

“We had some requests for the CCTV footage from the DP, SMI, and SP. We are currently reviewing their request”, emphasized the head of CEC.
