The EU Special Representative for the Serbia-Kosovo dialogue, Miroslav Lajčák, has been blocked in the Zurich airport as Albania has not opened air travel with Switzerland.
Euronews Albania’s correspondent in Brussels, Ernest Bunguri, reported that Lajčák is blocked with 150 other passengers.
This is the first airplane coming from the EU to Tirana, in a time when Albania and many European countries are trying to reopen their borders.
The EU representative was expected to start a three-day visit to Kosovo today, to discuss the conditions for restarting dialogue with Serbia.
The President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, declared that Lajčák is welcome if he understands that Kosovo is a free and sovereign state.
PM Avdullah Hoti confirmed that he would receive him in a meeting to introduce the stance of his government regarding dialogue.
