Trump's Special Envoy, Grenell, exchanges replies on Twitter with Kosovo Speaker, Osmani
"The delegation did not achieve exactly what it promised: mutual recognition."
It was precisely this statement on Twitter of the Speaker of the Parliament of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, after reaching an economic agreement between Serbia and Kosovo, that brought the reaction of President Donald Trump's special envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Richard Grenell, saying that no there is reason to complain as he has never raised such a concern.
“The agreement was for economic recognition. It’s an enormous step. For you to complain now that you didn’t get more is odd since you didn’t raise a single concern or give a single idea to me. We need politicians who do more than just complain. This is about jobs, not symbolism. You can’t pay your rent or feed your family with symbolism. The feasibility study for the lake is to know exactly how it can be used, what kind of jobs can be created. To suggest that the name opens up other discussions is silly politics. This is a study to create jobs”, said Grenell.
Right aftër by his answer, Osmani accused the delegation was not being transparent.
Recognition of Kosovo by Serbia is NOT symbolism. It is recognizing a reality which the US was among the first to do. Calling our statehood, which is a joint project between the people of Kosovo & the US a ‘symbolism’ minimizes the decade long U.S. bipartisan investment in Kosovo.
And no, we did not fight with Serbia over ‘words, adjectives & symbolism” but we fought for freedom, we fought against genocide. Kosovo delegation was not transparent. They said they will get mutual recognition with Serbia. They should take responsibility for what they publicly pledge.
