The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Avdullah Hoti, welcomed a proposal made from the US Special Envoy to the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue to change the name of Ujmani Lake into “Lake of President Trump”.
The Ujmani Lake, or Gazivoda Lake as called by the Serbs, has long been disputed as both sides claim its ownership.
In a Twitter post, Prime Minister Hoti said that Kosovo and its citizens will be eternally grateful to the United States and emphasized the US contribution in achieving the agreement between Kosovo and Serbia on September 4, which according to him will ultimately lead to mutual recognition.
I welcomed Amb Grenell’s proposal that Lake Ujman be renamed Trump Lake, in honor of @realDonaldTrump role in reaching a historic #economicnormalization agreement between Rep. of #Kosovo and Serbia, as a major step towards a final pol. agreement, resulting in mutual recognition. https://t.co/OK8vZswE6k

While on Facebook, Hoti added that Kosovo has named several squares and streets with the names of famous US personalities, such as President Clinton, George Bush, Senator Bob Dole and Madeleine Albright, as a sign of gratitude “for their decisive role for the freedom, independence and recognition of Kosovo worldwide”.
