The Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti said that Kosovo is “winning the battle against COVID-19”.

Standing at the podium of the Assembly, Kurti noted that the epidemiological situation has significantly improved since when his administration came to office.

Kurti emphasized that the measures taken led to a “drastic decline” of infections.

“We took some measures to curb the spread of the virus and the figures show a drastic fall in the number of active infections which also reduces our chances of contracting the virus but particularly medical personnel. So, the situation is incomparably better than the one we found. When we came to power there were 12.635 active cases and hundreds of daily infections”, Kurti said.

According to the premier, prior to financial matters, the government’s priority is to protect the wellbeing of its citizens and medical staff.

“To us, before the financial aspect, it is important that lives of medical personnel are no longer at risk, and that we are winning the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic”, said PM Kurti.

Considering the epidemiological situation public health authorities have considered relaxing pandemic-related measures to give a boost to the economy.

On Thursday, authorities recorded 23 new cases and a single death, taking the official death toll to 2242.
