Kosovo’s PM, Albin Kurti was at the Economic Summit in Skopje, when he said that his government is focused in fighting corruption and multiethnic organized crime.
Kurti also commented on the anti-smuggling police operation that was carried out in several cities across the country, including the northern region. He commented on the raised tensions that took place yesterday in Mitrovica, saying that Serbian and Albanian criminals cooperated well amongst one another, but that the Government would continue to fight corruption and crime, regardless of what happens.
“In the name of achieving institutional stability and the rule of law, we are fighting corruption and organized crime, which is multiethnic. Serbian criminals and Albanian criminals are perfectly fine to work together and they’re doing it very well. What we want, is to fight them and we will fight them, regardless of what happens.
Let’s take yesterday morning, for example. It was a police operation taking place in four separate communes around Kosovo and everyone who was involved in this was Serbian, in fact, the majority of police officers, including judges and prosecutors. I believe that it is wrong to give the fight against corruption and organized crime a political and ethnic connotation. We need to cooperate as different countries of the Western Balkans against organized crime,” – said Kurti.
