Kosovo’s PM Albin Kurti congratulated all new mayors on their victory during yesterday’s runoffs, saying that he will collaborate with everyone, but will also carefully check on all of them.

“The administration of the electoral process by CEC during these runoffs was excellent and I would like to take the chance to commend them for their commitment and efficiency. I also wish to congratulate all new commune mayors that were elected yesterday. They will have many battles and work ahead, dealing with crime and corruption, especially in the aggressive construction sector, where big money is being laundered in our cities. I will collaborate with all those that want to fight crime and I will be checking on them attentively,” – said PM Kurti.

Kosovo’s prime minister also noted that LVV’s defeat in the majority of communes only happened because everyone got together to attack his party, but he also admitted to the party’s own internal shortcomings.

“An unsatisfactory result for us. It came as a result of several internal defects, which we should all analyze, together, within our party structures – and of course, because of everyone’s unison against LVV,” – argued Kurti.

According to results from the first voting round and preliminary results from the runoffs round in 22 communes, published by the Central Elections Commission, Albin Kurti’s LVV (Self-Determination Movement) only won in 4 communes: Gjilan, Podujeva, Kamenica and Shtimen.

PDK was able to win in the following communes: Prizren, Vushtrri, Dragash, Drenas, Kaçanik, South Mitrovica, Ferizaj, Skenderaj and Hani i Elezit.

LDK won in the following communes: Prishtina, Fushe Kosova, Viti, Junik, Istog, Peja and Lipjan.

AAK won in the following communes: Gjakova, Rahovec, Klina, Decan and Suhareka.

The Serbian List won in 10 communes inhabited by an ethnic-Serbian majority: North Mitrovica, Leposavic, Zubin Potok, Zvecan, Graçanice, Novoberda, Shterpc, Ranillug, Partesh and Kllokot.
