The EU ambassador, Luigi Soreca made an appeal to political parties and all Albanians during a statement for the press, to not rush to conclusions before the last vote is counted.
“We are all waiting calmly the result of the vote, I welcome the call by the parties’ leaders by the presidency, by the president himself, to invite everybody to wait for the result without going to far in drawing conclusions,” said ambassador Soreca.
Luigi Soreca also spoke on the current phase of the counting process in Trana, saying that some of the stations are taking a break and will resume shortly.
“Today is the second day of my observation for this very important moment for Albania. I am touring some counting centers in Tirana. And some of them inevitably, the teams are taking a pause in order to restart as soon as possible. Let me say, it is essential that this process goes on steadily, without delays and interruptions because there is a lot at stake and the Albanian citizens are waiting,” said the ambassador.
Soreca stated that he was happy with the voter turnout and saw it as a positive indicator for democracy in the country.
The Albanian citizens spoke, there was a very high turnout yesterday, despite the restrictions related to the pandemic, and this is a strong signal of democratic life,” added the EU ambassador.
Ambassador Soreca also said that he has also welcomed the pilot project for electronic voting.
