The war in Ukraine has led to an increase in almost all basic food products in North Macedonia, about 20% more expensive to be more precise.
Consequently, the government has decided to abolish VAT on food products sold in grocery stores, among others bread, flour, milk, eggs.
It was economy minister Kreshnik Bekteshi who announced the latest government decision on Thursday.
North Macedonia has temporarily suspended the export of specific foods, in a tit-for-tat move to what other countries in the region have done.
