Montenegro is currently facing a deep political crisis because its frail parliamentary majority isn’t finding a way to make things work.
In order to profit from the current situation, the parliamentary opposition has called a motion of no-confidence.
Chair of the Democratic Alliance for Albanians in Montenegro, Nikolle Camaj, said on ‘Balkan Talks’ that 40 opposition MPs have gathered in order to make this request.
“We should allow leaders with a pro-Russian and Serbian outlook to gain ground,” – said Camaj.
The party that has a chance to overthrow this balance is the one led by Dritan Abozovic, who still hasn’t come out with an official stance on the matter. According to Camaj, there are many inconsistencies between Abazovic and the current governmental majority.
“He hasn’t made a public declaration yet. But he has said that he won’t be making any compromises in regards to his pro-Western orientation and the recognition of Kosovo,” – said Camaj.
According to him, Montenegro has undergone many changes but they have all turned out to be disappointing.
Camaj also pointed out that another cause for concern is the influence coming in from Russia, Serbia, and especially the Orthodox Church.
The Montenegrin Parliament has 81 seats and at this point, the governmental majority will have a hard time acquiring the necessary rate of approval.
