Former justice minister of Kosovo Selim Selimi said on Balkan Talks that the European Union is incapable of managing the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
According to him, what is needed is the direct involvement of the United States and the chancellors of Berlin, Paris, and London.
Selimi claims that the US has been using a different approach to the dialogue as it is seeing the process as a geopolitical development, which can be seen by the latest sanctions against groups in northern Kosovo.
The former justice minister said that domestically the dialogue needs to be perceived as a “national matter”.
“Having a dialogue just to win some time for domestic policies will only benefit Serbia”, said Selimi, adding that Kosovo needs to come forth more aggressively and not treat this as a “second-hand issue”.
