Renowned film director Robert Budina accused the ministry of culture of ruining our national heritage.

During his interview on Euronews Albania’s Good Morning, Budina commented on the ministry’s decision to demolish the National Theater building.

According to Budina, the ministry along with the National Institute of Monuments didn’t defend the building but rather became collaborators in collecting all the necessary paperwork that would later justify the destruction of a monument belonging to our cultural heritage.

“They are promoting these actions as progress and upkeep for our national heritage, but this is just a façade that justifies the very destruction of our heritage,” – he said, while referring to all the recent state-ordered reconstruction projects.

Meanwhile, architect Doriana Musai said that our cultural projects are characterized by a complete lack of transparency as there is no fair race or regular procurement procedures.
