Oerd Bylykbashi, an MP of the Democratic Party, declared that a potential deal to extend the deadline of the vetting process was met by controversy among party lines.

Invited on tonight’s Now with Erla Mehilli, the Democrat lawmaker said that PM Edi Rama is trying to bring a deal to the table, by offering the territorial reform to the opposition, something the latter has been keen on, and requesting to extend the vetting process in exchange for that.

“Rama’s offer, I’m calling it an offer but it’s actually an effort to reach an objective, and that is getting the vetting, in other words, extend the mandate of those currently in office, those that we have continuously been calling out. If the DP grants that, then it will be the end”, warned Bylykbashi.

The meeting of the DP’s presidency of the parliamentary group was filled with provocative questions, various insinuations against Basha, but also critics about his performance in the past, Bylykbashi said.

According to him, the Venice Commission maintained that the vetting process must be as brief as possible, to a maximum of 5 years, and that there are other options apart from extending its mandate.

“If we fall in that trap, we’ll damage the opposition’s interests”, concluded DP’s representative lawmaker for the country of Durres.
