Pastor Akil Pano said on tonight’s ‘Now’ that the designation ‘Parent no.1’ and ‘Parent no.2’ is a phenomenon that is trying to gain momentum due to the need of homosexual couples to be able to adopt children.

“Why ‘parent 1’ and ‘parent 2’? Naturally, so that the interests and desires or even the need for self-fulfillment and having a family for individuals of the same gender, can be met. So that the union between two men and two women can be legitimized,” – he said.

In addition, the pastor said that in cases when a child is adopted by gay couples, the child will always look for the mother and father figure.

Civil society activist, Altin Hazizaj gave his take saying that the way religion often treats social issues, is a direct violation of human rights and an attack against civil society.

“There is a regressive tendency in Albania that doesn’t let human rights in the country at least get to the same level as those in Europe. There’s a tendency to have them get attacked by elements that are often related to religion or financed by religion or directed by religion,” – said Altin Hazizaj.
