The third return of Sali Berisha as head of the Democratic Party is a personal victory, but for DP, it is a step backward.
This is what journalist Erl Murati said during Euronews Albania’s NOW with Erla Mehilli, during which he also stated that Berisha’s victory shows a lack of ability of the Albanian political class to reform and our lack of democratic culture.
“Berisha’s return is an inability of the political class to reform and a lack of democratic culture. We are the only country whose three main politicians come from the previous century. This was his own personal victory. His victory didn’t flow naturally. The fact that DP spent 9 years with Basha as leader and Berisha only came back when he was declared non-grata means that it will be difficult for DP to win the elections,” – said Murati.
