Former MP Myslim Murrizi called the process of electing the new president led by PM Edi Rama, a premeditated bait, which the opposition has fallen prey to.
During his interview for Euronews Albania’s ‘Today’, Murrizi said that the ruling majority is ridiculing the process, especially by inviting the opposition to the negotiations table.
“The opposition has taken the bait which was intentionally put there for them, so that this could all seem like the great news of these great consultations. It’s all a joke. Especially when I see that they are trying to institutionalize the joke by making it seem like a roundtable of talks and a meeting between opposition MPs and government representatives, who come up with candidatures of some anonymous characters who are only good as chiefs of police at best,” – said Murrizi.
According to him, the entire process is a farse, while adding that the new president should be someone who has a consolidated political background.
Murrizi also added that the head of DP’s caucus, Enkelejd Alibeaj, can’t be the one to propose 2 candidatures for president, because he doesn’t have 40 MPs on his side.
