Renowned names of Albanian politics that weren’t able to secure a seat in parliament

The ballot-counting process for preferential voting has wrapped up on a national level. But even in these elections, there was no lack of surprises when it came to candidate voting.

There will be new names in the new parliament, but there are also renowned personalities in the political world in our country, who were part of the electoral campaign, or have been contributing in their parties for years in a row, but they weren’t able to secure a mandate or seat in the next Albanian parliament.

The names that remained out of the lists were mostly in the electoral districts of Tirana and Shkodra.

Renown candidates from the Socialist Party that weren’t able to get a mandate in Tirana are:

  • Ervin Bushati
  • Fidel Ylli
  • Mimi Kodheli
  • Plarent Ndreca
  • Pandeli Majko
  • Eljo Hysko

In addition, from the renowned personalities of the Socialist Party in the electoral district of Shkodra, the former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqja was also unable to obtain a seat in parliament.

In the ranks of the Democratic Party, the personalities remaining out of parliament, after the electoral race in the district of Tirana are:

  • Aldo Bumçi
  • Gent Strazimiri
  • Ivi Kaso
  • Dorian Teliti

In addition, the opposition personality, Bardh Spahia was unable to obtain a seat in the next Albanian parliament.

There were also renowned personalities from the Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI), running in the district Tirana that were unable to obtain the necessary electoral votes that would grant them a seat in the next parliament:

  • Petrit Vasili
  • Edmond Haxhinasto
  • Nora Malaj
  • Silva Caka
  • Floida Kërpaçi
