The lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu said in the Now show on Euronews Albania that based on the charges against him, Arben Ahmetaj and the position he held risks up to 10 years in prison.
According to Spahi, in the case of persons who have held high positions such as Ahmetaj or Sajmir Tahiri, it does not matter how many years they are sentenced as their political career is destroyed.
“For a deputy prime minister, criminal offenses such as corruption, abuse of office, and money laundering are punishable by up to 10 years. In the conditions of the subject in question, even 10 days in prison are serious.
“Sajmir Tahiri really received a low punishment, but his political career and as a person was destroyed,” said Spahiu.
