US Ambassador Yuri Kim reacted to the resignation of SDP leader Tom Doshi from his possible seat in the new parliament in a statement for Euronews Albania.
Journalist Ilva Tare asked the ambassador to comment on last night’s resignation, and Kim responded that the US position has not changed.
“Which one are you talking about? With respect to US designations we are very clear, we have been consistent and there is no change in our position,” Kim told Tare.
The ambassador had called against Doshi’s running in the 25 April general elections in Albania.
Doshi was barred from entering the United States over allegations of corruption, which prompted the ambassador to ask for him not to be part of the Albanian parliament.
