Euronews Albania secured exclusive footage from inside the police station where a young police officer identified as Ludian Zaimi shot and killed on Monday evening his senior colleague, Caush Saliasi.

The shooting took place hours a few hours before midnight inside Tirana Police Station 3.

The shooting happened after a banal conflict between the two, sources say. The victim had been serving as a police officer for over 20 years.

Footage reveals the station filled with police officers at the time of the shooting.

The two police officers were outside when 25-year-old Zaimi turns to face 55-year-old Saliasi and reportedly shoots him 6 times.

Saliasi then tries to get inside the station and kicks the door with his foot, but Zaimi is seen entering inside and shooting him again.

Saliasi was taken to the hospital by colleagues where he was later pronounced dead.

A police officer, who was not wearing a uniform, is seen taking the gun from the Zaimi and ordering other cops to arrest and take him inside the station.

The gruesome murder has alarmed experts and the public alike over the lack of self-control among law enforcement officers.

Asllan Dogjani, an ex-senior official among police ranks, compared Zaimi’s attitude to a thug.

According to him, there are police officers who may be suffering from psychiatric disorders.

“The worst part about it is that the victim tries to escape and tries to shut the door by kicking it with his foot several times, and the shooter is still enraged and breaks in. So I think we’re dealing with a cold-blooded murder of a police officer”, says Dogjani.

“The other thing I’m concerned about is how can a police officer who is involved in a debate, regardless of what that debate is about, cannot control himself and shoots at his own colleague”.

“What about all other people he confronts on a daily basis, starting from individuals with criminal records, intellectuals, foreigners, and people in all forms of mental states. If he has no self-restraint with a colleague, what is he going to do if he confronts a citizen”, was the question posed by Dogjani.
