State Election Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi arrived at the counting station where a few moments ago several people got into a physical altercation.

Counting has been suspended at the station following the incident however, Celibashi confirmed that the process will resume after 4 hours.

Furthermore, he asserted that all authorizations issued for the role of observers will be cancelled and replaced with new ones.

Sources confirm for Euronews Albania, that the fight erupted initially between two observers and afterward individuals standing outside the stations’ premises tried to intervene.

Police officers have detained 8 people in connection to the incident and declared that the conflict arose between observers and counters.

The candidate of the Democratic Party Oriola Pampuri said that the individuals that entered the stations’ premises claimed to be authorized observers.

“They claimed to be observers from CEC and then started harassing and the bloodbath … They hit the observer of the Democratic Party and his relative”, she said.
